Class description:

Power is not only domination or authority. At its core, it is a “human constant”, the capacity to affect, influence, and shape experience, both our own and that of others.
We are universally drawn to power, sometimes to the point that its magnetism shapes our subconscious “raison d’etre”. Is this because it promises safety, meaning, freedom, or relief? Across history, from tribal hierarchies to monarchy, from religious rites to sexual and relational intimacy, power has been used to organize chaos and create belonging. This makes it both familiar and compelling to explore how power connects the dots of our sexual expression. How the movement between control and surrender reflects our most vulnerable sense of being and longing.

In this presentation, we will explore the “geography of power” as narrated through myth, history, and neuroscience. In the second part, we will integrate this understanding through visualization exercises inspired by yoga nidra, along with reflective journaling questions.

Themes will include the relationship between power and fear, the alchemizing role of consent, and how dominance and submission influence, but do not determine, power exchanges. We will also explore how power exchange can express, affirm, and transcend gender and gender roles.

Our goal is to reclaim power as an aspect of health, regulation, and liberation, rather than a tool of erosion and dependency.
